Hello again!
If you didn’t see my last post, Hello Again was recently accepted into two incredible festivals:
I found out that my game was going to be accepted into these festivals with a very limited amount of time to prepare. And since my game has been going through a caterpillar-to-butterfly-level transformation this year, it was terrifying to be told that I had ~2 weeks to make my game look beautiful before it would be showed off to potentially millions of viewers. The pressure was palpable.
As a result, I took some time away from work and crunched out of my mind. I got about 125 hours of work done in less than 3 weeks. For perspective, I typically work about ~15 hrs/week on Hello Again.
Level Design
During my long hours I got a handful of environments looking pretty decent. Here are some samples:

Dialogue
I also took some time to write silly dialogue to accompany my footage:
Effects
A lot of my development time was directed towards making effects and shaders so that the world looks interesting and alive. I worked hard to implement rain, a new daily event that takes place in the evening and impacts a handful of puzzles. I also added in a sunset, nighttime fireflies, trees that sway in the wind, and some neat water reflections. Here’s an example of the rain, which is definitely my favorite of the effects:

Key Artwork
Last but not least, I hired the awesome artist Natalie Arenzon to create some marketing artwork for Hello Again! Here’s how it turned out:
